BS8901: do you need to update your CV?

October 15th, 2008 by Live Recruitment

If you are involved with the delivery of events, meetings and conferences to the new BS8901 standard in the UK or internationally you should consider putting your qualification and experience on your CV.

The advice comes from James Walton at Live Recruitment, a specialist recruitment agency in the live events, AV and venues industry. James said: “Experience in BS8901 could prove a useful skill for candidates and job seekers.

” It’s important to differentiate yourself to potential employers so any relevant skills should be going onto your CV.”

As part of yesterday’s World Standards Day (14 October), BSI announced that 81% of the FTSE 250 companies have already implemented a sustainable environmental policy. BS8901, the new international standard for our industry, gives a framework of requirements for the planning and management of sustainable events large and small; from the smallest company meeting in a hotel to huge events such as the 2012 Olympics and festivals.

So whether you’re looking for a job client-side, in an agency or for a supplier such as AV you should be considering whether BS8901 and your experience should be appearing on your CV.
