Innovation is the operating mode here, not the aspiration.The RoleThe Event Technical Designer sits at the intersection of creative ambition and structural reality, taking client briefs and turning them into comprehensive plans that are both buildable and precise, with CNC fabrication practicality at the centre of every decision, working closely with fabrication and design teams from concept through to shop-ready output.- Transform client briefs into detailed, shop-ready structural plans- Lead technical problem-solving across experiential, popup retail and TV and film builds- Coordinate with fabrication teams to ensure CNC practicality throughout- Produce construction detailing and technical drawings to the highest standard- Design for CNC and 3D printing processes- Mentor and develop a team of designers, embedding a problem-solving mindset- Produce technical reports and present solutions clearly to internal and client stakeholdersThe CandidateThe right Event Technical Designer will have a solid background in technical design within creative construction, with hands-on specialist knowledge spanning experiential events, popup retail or TV and film scenic fabrication. You will be comfortable producing construction detailing and shop-ready drawings, and confident working with Rhino and SketchUp to a high level.If your background sits slightly adjacent, perhaps weighted more heavily toward one sector within creative construction, that is worth exploring. Understanding how people move through a built environment matters as much as technical 3D design skill. Candidates should ideally be proficient in SketchUp, Rhino, Revit or equivalent 3D modelling software and must have a proven background in live events, exhibition design or experiential projects. A solid grasp of spatial design principles is ideal and candidates must be comfortable collaborating across creative and production teams on concurrent projects.Texturing, lighting and photorealistic rendering experience is beneficial but not essential, as is knowledge of temporary structures or exhibition design build processes. Exposure to international delivery or multi-location projects would be a bonus.
