Job description

Do you enjoy having full control of your craft from first cut to finished build? We’re looking for an experienced CNC Operator to take responsibility for a newly installed machine and become a key part of a growing scenic production workshop.

Benefits include:

  • Exciting portfolio of clients projects
  • Investment in brand‑new machinery and workshop facilities
  • Creative, hands‑on working environment

THE COMPANY

Our client creates bespoke scenic builds and structures for premium live events, exhibitions and brand experiences. With design, scenic and production teams working closely together in‑house, the workshop plays a central role in how ideas are realised. Increased investment in tooling and fabrication capability means there is a real opportunity for a skilled CNC Operator to shape how machinery is used across current and future projects.

THE ROLE

In this role, the CNC Operator will be trusted to run day‑to‑day machining activity, converting technical drawings into accurate, high‑quality components for scenic builds. You’ll collaborate with the scenic team while also working independently at the machine, owning both output quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities as CNC Operator include:

  • Programming and running flat‑bed CNC routing equipment
  • Translating 2D drawings into effective AlphaCAM programmes and toolpaths
  • Selecting materials, setting up jobs and managing cutting processes
  • Producing components using timber, MDF, plywood, acrylics and sheet materials
  • Carrying out routine maintenance, checks and basic troubleshooting
  • Improving material efficiency through smart nesting and machine optimisation
  • Feeding back on build methods and suggesting alternative approaches where useful
  • Maintaining a safe, tidy and well‑organised workshop

THE CANDIDATE

We’re looking for a confident and capable CNC Operator who enjoys working with autonomy and takes pride in precise workmanship. You’ll have hands‑on CNC routing experience and be comfortable working from technical drawings through to finished components. Backgrounds in joinery, fabrication or production environments are all welcome. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys precision, problem‑solving and the freedom to explore how machinery can be used more creatively and efficiently.
