Job description

Exciting creative project portfolio – Are you a Midweight Events Technical Designer looking to bring ambitious event and exhibition concepts to life? Do you want to take a leading role in transforming creative ideas into practical, build‑ready technical solutions for major UK and international projects?

  • Fantastic career development and hands‑on training opportunities
  • Supportive team culture with strong technical leadership
  • Opportunities for UK and international travel to see your designs installed on‑site

THE COMPANY

This established creative and technical production team specialises in delivering high‑quality exhibition stands and event environments for brands across the UK and overseas. Known for its supportive, collaborative culture, the organisation is expanding its technical design team, making this the perfect time for a talented Midweight Events Technical Designer to join and help shape the next chapter of its work.

THE ROLE

A fantastic opportunity has opened for a Midweight Events Technical Designer to take responsibility for turning creative concepts into accurate, detailed and buildable drawings across exhibition and event projects. You’ll work closely with designers, project managers, workshop teams and external fabrication partners, ensuring every detail is resolved and ready for production.

This is a hands‑on technical design role involving 2D and 3D AutoCAD, space planning, CNC file preparation and the creation of drawings that support manufacturing, installation and onsite delivery. You’ll take increasing ownership of live projects, support site installations and contribute to shaping technical solutions from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities as Midweight Events Technical Designer include:

  • Translating creative visuals into detailed 2D/3D workshop drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Producing submission, approval and production drawings for project teams and suppliers.
  • Re‑interpreting designs to create alternative layouts based on client or account direction.
  • Liaising with project managers, contractors and clients throughout all project stages.
  • Preparing CNC cut files for joinery, signage and 3D printed components.
  • Carrying out on‑site surveys, space planning and producing services location plans.
  • Managing third‑party manufacturing requirements and coordinating workshop workflows.
  • Updating project data within the FileMaker database and supporting installation teams onsite.

THE CANDIDATE

This role suits an experienced and detail‑driven Midweight Events Technical Designer with at least 3 years’ experience in technical detailing for exhibitions, joinery, retail fit‑out or related environments. You’ll bring strong AutoCAD skills, a clear understanding of build processes and the ability to produce accurate, build‑ready drawings that support efficient fabrication and installation.

Alongside technical ability, you’ll be a confident communicator who collaborates well with internal teams, suppliers and clients. As a Midweight Events Technical Designer, you’ll be organised, adaptable and able to manage your workload in a fast‑paced environment, all while contributing positively to a supportive, team‑led culture.
